বাংলা সাহিত্যে ধ্রুপদী ঐতিহাসিক উপন্যাস বললেই ‘মহারাষ্ট্র জীবন-প্রভাত' ও ‘রাজপুত জীবন-সন্ধ্যা'-র কথা একইসঙ্গে উচ্চারিত হয়। একই সিরিজের দুই কাহিনি। যেন একই আকাশে সূর্যোদয় ও সূর্যাস্তের ছবি। হলদিঘাটের ঐতিহাসিক যুদ্ধ, চিতোর দুর্গ জয়, মোঘলদের সঙ্গে দুর্ধর্ষ রাজপুতদের বীরত্বের লড়াইকে ঘিরে আবর্তিত এ কাহিনি। মহারানা প্রতাপসিংহের উন্নত শির সকল। কালের কুর্নিশ আদায় করে নেয়। তবু তো কালের নিয়মেই মধ্যাহ্ন-সূর্য অস্তমিত হয়। অবশ্য সে-সূর্যাস্তের গরিমা চিরকালীন। সেই কালজয়ী গরিমার বিভা এই সময়ের পাঠকগণকেও আলোকিত করে।
Such an incredibly complex story! I had to buy it because there was a waiting list of 30+ at the local library for this book. Thrilled that I made the purchase
I read this book shortly after I got it and didn't just put it on my TBR shelf mainly because I saw it on Reese Witherspoon's bookclub September read. It was one of the best books I've read this year, and reminded me some of Kristen Hannah's The Great Alone.
